Educational Qualification

You must have the required education by February 4, 2026.

Scientific Trainee/Scientific Assistant (ST/SA Category-I) – Engineering Diploma HolderDiploma in Engineering in relevant branch with at least 60% marks from a recognized institute under Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Diploma should be 3 years after SSC/HSC or 2 years after lateral entry in second year after HSC. Approved by AICTE. English as a subject in SSC or HSC. Note: Diploma through lateral entry after 10th + ITI not eligible.
Branches: Mechanical – Mechanical/Production/Automobile Engineering, Instrumentation – Instrumentation/Instrumentation & Control; Electrical – Electrical Engineering, Electronics – Electronics Engineering/Digital Electronics/Electronics & Tele-Communication/Electronics & Computer/Industrial Electronics/Electronics & Communication.
Scientific Trainee/Scientific Assistant (ST/SA Category-I) – Science Graduate (Chemical Physics)BSc with at least 60% marks. Physics as main subject and Chemistry/Math/Statistics/Electronics & Computer Science as auxiliary, or Chemistry as main and Physics/Math/Statistics/Electronics & Computer Science as auxiliary, or Physics, Chemistry & Math equally important. Math compulsory in HSC (10+2). English as a subject in SSC or HSC.
Note: BSc with Math as main not eligible.
Scientific Trainee/Technician (ST/TN Category-II) Maintainer (Fitter, Turner, Instrumentation Mechanic, Machinist, Electronics Mechanic, Mason)SSC (10th) with Science subjects/Math with at least 50% marks aggregate + 2 year ITI certificate in relevant trade. If ITI less than 2 years, 1 year relevant experience after course. English as a subject in SSC. Note: 10th marksheet with Science & Technology considered as Science. If Physical Science and Life Science separate, average considered for Science. Social Science not Science. ITI must be in trades relevant to O&M training and employment. One year apprenticeship after ITI counted as experience. Internship not counted. Trades: Electronics Mechanic – Electronics Mechanic/Mechanic Industrial Electronics/Information Technology & Electronics System Maintenance/Technician Power Electronics System, Machinist – Machinist; Fitter – Fitter; Turner – Turner, Instrumentation Mechanic – Instrumentation Mechanic/Instrumentation Mechanic Power Plant, Mason – Mason. For Project Affected Persons (PAP) whose land acquired for Tarapur: SSC with Science & Math/English + ITI, or SSC pass with English as subject.
Scientific Trainee/Technician (ST/TN Category-II) – Plant OperatorHSC (10+2) or ISC in Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Math) with at least 50% marks aggregate. English as a subject in SSC. For PAP: HSC (12th) with Science stream at least 40% marks.
X-Ray Technician (Technician-C)HSC (10+2) with Science at least 60% marks + 1 year Medical Radiography/X-Ray Trade Certificate + at least 2 years full-time relevant experience after qualification. For PAP: Only pass in graduation.
Assistant Grade-1 (HR/F&A/C&MM)Bachelor’s degree in any subject with at least 50% marks aggregate from recognized university/institute. For PAP: Only pass in graduation.

Age Limit

Minimum Age: 18 years for most, 21 for Assistant Grade-1.

Maximum Age:

  • ST/SA Category-I, X-Ray Technician: 25 years
  • SA/B Civil: 30 years
  • ST/TN Category-II: 24 years
  • Assistant Grade-1: 28 years

Age relaxation for SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years, PwBD 10 years (more for reserved), ex-servicemen as per rules.

Physical Standards

For all: Minimum height 160 cm, weight 45.5 kg (relaxable if medically fit).

Salary and Benefits

Pay Scale (7th CPC revised):

  • Scientific Assistant/B: Level 6, Rs. 35,400
  • Technician/B: Level 3, Rs. 21,700
  • Technician/C, Assistant Grade-1: Level 4, Rs. 25,500

With DA at 58% (as on July 1, 2025): Gross approx Rs. 55,932 for SA/B, Rs. 34,286 for Technician/B, Rs. 40,290 for others.
