Civil ServicesA candidate must hold a Graduate degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification.

Age Limit (as on 01.08.2026)

  • Minimum Age Limit: 21 Years
  • Maximum Age Limit: 32 Years

Candidates must have been born not earlier than August 2, 1994 and not later than August 1, 2005. Age relaxations are applicable for reserved categories as per government norms: OBC 3 years, SC/ST 5 years, PwBD 10 years, Ex-Servicemen 5 years, etc. Cumulative relaxation for multiple categories.

UPSC CSE 2026 Salary

Pay Scale: Level-10 ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500 (7th CPC) for entry level, higher for senior posts.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of the following stages:
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Screening Test)

  • Objective type multiple-choice questions
  • Two Papers: Paper I (200 marks, 2 hours), Paper II CSAT (200 marks, 2 hours, qualifying 33%)
  • Subjects for Paper I: Current events, History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Environment, General Science
  • Subjects for Paper II: Comprehension, Logical reasoning, Basic numeracy, Data interpretation
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deducted for wrong answers

Stage 2: Main Examination (Written)

  • 9 Papers: Qualifying (Indian Language, English), Merit (Essay, GS I-IV, Optional I-II)
  • 1750 marks

Stage 3: Interview/Personality Test

  • 275 marks
  • Qualifying Papers: 300 each (600 total but qualifying only min. 25% each)
  • Merit Papers: 250 each (1750 total)
  • Interview: 275 Grand Total: 2025

Stage 4: Document Verification
